HISTORY IN PROGRESS

November 7 - 13

  • Here's a good alternative to flares: the DistresSOS light is a buoyant, battery-operated visual distress signal.  It has a 50,000 candlepower intensity, and flashes SOS in Morse code, when you need it.  It runs for over 6 hours on four D-cell batteries, works just like your plain flashlight, and apparently exceeds USCG requirements.  For more information go to www.acrelectronics.com
  • Nov. 6-16: Louis Vuitton Cup round-robin 2 (challenger series for the America's Cup) - it's a part of the America's Cup that takes place in Hauraki Gulf, Auckland, New Zealand.  You can give them a call at 011-64-9-358-4444.

  • Nov. 13-14: Race Management Seminar will take place at the Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit, MI, USA.  To find out more call 313-822-1853.

  • Nov. 11-14: Mexico Boat Show will take place at Marina Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  For the lucky ones who can enjoy the weather down there for a few days (or more) call 619-274-9924 for more information.
  • For daily updates on America's Cup - just about the biggest race in sailing history, visit the official America's Cup website.
